Product Focus - Citrix with AutoCAD Map 3D
This new feature in the 2009 version allows you to link to Citrix creating a virtual flexibility for your Autodesk software not seen before.
Citrix is a virtualisation environment which allows you to access Windows based applications from various locations with little regards to the type of computer they have. All processes that occur during a Citrix session take place on the server and not on the local machine.
Being centrally managed, Citrix enables the most powerful tools for the relevant number of people to be delivered in a very cost effective manner.
Implementation benefits: being centrally managed installations, rollouts and patches can be added quickly and easily without the need to visit each user's PC.
Support benefits: Citrix sessions can be shadowed allowing support staff to witness support issues and even take control of the session itself. Consequently support costs are reduced.
Using a web browser - such as Internet Explorer - the Citrix session is activated and appears in a window resembling the Windows desktop. The user then activates their application - such as AutoCAD Map 3D in the usual way.

- Industry Specific Kits
- Autodesk have produced a series of industry kits that operate in AutoCAD Map. These are drawing templates set up with layers, symbols and classes specifically for the creation and management of data for the Waste Water industry. These are useful in creating consistent data for inclusion and transfer to ESRI systems. . Contact us for details.
- Drawing Clean-Up Utility (DCU)
- One of the problems that many clients have, is that your data, although structurally good as an AutoCAD drawing, is not consistent and in some cases needs a lot of manipulation before it can be used or transferred to ESRI ArcSDE. Autodesk have developed the DCU to assist with converting inconsistent data to a consistent format that matches your own standard. Contact us for details.
- "Too Many Users" Error Message
- If you are running MapGuide Enterprise / Open Source and Microsoft Windows XP you may receive an error referring to "Too Many users". We have a solution for you. Contact Mark Spence for more details.
